My work is a physical manifestation of how people might feel in compressed spaces. Through large-scale painting installations, materials are contorted and manipulated to replicate the physical sensation and uncomfortable feeling of being squeezed. The work is created with fabric that is folded, torn, sewn, and supported by wood and other found materials to form amorphic shapes. The materials are connected to the wall but break out of the picture plane in sharp angles, mimicking an elbow or a joint. Each of my sculptures are a precarious representation of tension with no sign of release.
